Volunteer Work

Dr Klar has worked as part of a volunteer surgical team in Micronesia in the remote Central Pacific. A collaboration between the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and AusAid makes these visits possible.

During his trips to Micronesia, the surgical team Dr Klar formed part of, completes pro bono orthopaedic surgeries for the people of this under-resourced island nation.

There is a huge need for these types of visits to Micronesia and indeed other neighbours in our Pacific region. The surgery is both challenging and rewarding and the patient’s are enormously appreciative as are the local doctors and nurses.
